TIPS & TRICKS

CAUTION WHEN WET

Did you know that your hair is at its weakest and most susceptible to breakage when it's wet? Here are some easy ways to protect your hair when it's most vulnerable.

Using a wide-tooth comb on wet hair will help detangle it with little or no damage. Start combing at the ends and gently work your way up to the roots.

Rubbing wet hair with a towel can damage it. Gently squeeze as much water as possible out of your hair before getting out of the shower, then wrap it with a super-absorbent, specially shaped microfiber hair towel instead. Your hair will be out of the way while you get ready to face the day, and the soft fibers will gently pull the water out of your hair, reducing blow-drying time and treating your hair with the tender, loving care it deserves.

MYTH BUSTER

DOES YOUR HAIR REALLY GET "USED" TO A CERTAIN FORMULA?
We wish hair was that clever, but it's not. The truth is, your hair's environment changes, and that can affect the results you see from your favorite products. Your health, the weather, the kind of water you're using – they all can make a difference. An easy way to change things up without totally abandoning your regular routine is to lather a second time with a formula specifically targeted to the challenge your hair is facing that day.

CONDITION ME

Conditioner can help take damaged hair to a healthier place by pumping up the shine, taking down the static electricity, and building strength.

ANOTHER BONUS?
Conditioner can offer protection from UV rays. LOVE that.

CONDITIONER ROUTINE

When applying conditioner, concentrate on the ends of your hair (especially if you have fine hair). This avoids conditioner from weighing down your hair or making it look limp.

BE GOOD TO YOURSELF!

Smoking, stress, and poor eating habits don't just mess with your body, they also play a role in healthy hair. Ditch the vices and your hair will thank you. Yes, there are lots of other reasons why you should be eliminating all of these things, so add this to your motivation list!

WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH SULFATES?

Sulfates are commonly found in shampoos, but they can cause frizziness and damage your color-treated hair. HairRx shampoos never contain sulfates.

IT'S ALL IN THE SCALP

Scalp attention goes a long way; focusing on your scalp will help you avoid flyaways and dry hair. That feels GOOD.

MAKE IT PERSONAL

THIS MIGHT SOUND LIKE A NO-BRAINER. . .

but it can't be overlooked - you are unique and so is your hair. Make the best choices when it comes to your shampoo and conditioner by making sure they are formulated for your personal hair needs. It would be like buying shoes in the wrong size just because you need shoes: they will still be shoes, but you can't wear them comfortably. Shampoo and conditioner formulated for YOU is like slipping on the perfect size every time.

HOW OFTEN AM I SUPPOSED TO WASH MY HAIR?

How often you use "I have to wash my hair" as an excuse to get out of awkward dates is up to you, but it is really based on how much oil your scalp produces.

OILY SCALP?

You're looking at washing as much as once per day.

CHEMICALLY TREATED HAIR?

You're off the hook. You can wash with less frequency.

MARKING A BIG BIRTHDAY SOON?

As you get older, your scalp actually produces less oil, so shampooing doesn't need to happen as often.

SPOTTING FLAKES

Don't panic. You may not be shampooing frequently enough. Kick up your washing game in order to avoid dandruff and any other scalp issues.

IT’S GETTING HOT IN HERE!

Take care when blow drying your hair. Avoid using the hottest setting and keep the nozzle pointed downwards on your hair shaft. Another tip (and it might bring back middle school dance chaperone memories...) is to keep some distance! Keep the blow dryer at least 6 inches away from your hair to protect it.
